OK, S2/KL/Frogy? Or whoever.......

King Silk,

Sorry, I've got to correct you. The F2AS is in GREAT shape! I wish I were in that great a shape. It's over 30 years old and the Nikkor-S 55mm f/1.2 is over 40 years old and both work great. With regard to your last thought, the only lass I'm going to carry up a mountain will be well worth the effort! And I WON"T complain!

I was looking at a D700 to replace my Nikon F2AS but too heavy. Initially I was lusting over a D3X but too heavy and too expensive! Am going with a D90 instead at about 2/3 the weight of the D700. I would rather have a full frame instead of DX but cameras and lenses get heavy after lugging around for the day and I'm not getting any younger. I can only imagine humping up some mountains to visit hill tribes with my tongue handing out due to the extra weight. :/

A Nikkor 17-55mm 1:2.8 ... or a Nikkor 70-200 1:2.8 with VR, plus the Nikon 1.4 teleconverter. But with both lenses my rucksack weighs a ton... used to cart it around the Alps on skis too. Hard work. Suppose it helps me to keep fit... to drop

Default wired up

Now this is exacly how it was here in greece 22 years ago when I first came and it was one of the many things that attracted me. Nowdays though it has been tided up too much and the flovour of the country has gone, So now it is time to move on to Thailand where I am so happy to see the old values of the electrician still exist.

Hephesus,

Ah, the Thailand I know and love! Nice to see it's still there. I think the overwhelming number of those lines are either telephone or perhaps cable television lines and not electrical. That said, I'd sure hate to hit one of those poles. Concrete doesn't give very much!

You're right both of you, it's part of the charm!

(S2, talking about hitting one of those poles, I'll post a pic in the 'safety in Thailand thread soon...)...

In the meantime, here's another smile...
