That is precisely why our UK number was unlisted! If we wanted help we would ask for it!

I believe that in the UK you can ask for your details to be passed on to the account holder if you are a relative and have a valid reason. I don't believe anyone actually has the right to disclose a UK unlisted number other than the account holder.

Even if you don't want to blow a whistle in their ear, at lest just hang up on them. You don't have to be polite or tell them anything. Let them move on to someone who might actually buy.

Besides, by 'encouraging' them to move on quickly to another, possibly more interested client, you are actually doing them a favour by not wasteing their time!

By leaving your phone off the hook , it can block them calling for a while , i liked to stand by and listen to thier rants and raves about how inconsiderate you were being .Colin .

I have a mate in CID and even they have to fill in a detained official request of unlisted numbers so quite how you can get access to them is beyond me tbh.

I would be a tad more considerate and put the phone down next to radio or tv speakers so they can enjoy the background music or whatever while they wait.
