Thumbs down Eurovision who loves who contest

Well once again we get diddly squat well 14 points , now is that justice Andy sang his little heart out and he gets 6 points

reasonable song well performed and he gets 14 points ..

Now once again it just shows how much the UK is hated in Europe so why the hell doesnt our Government wake up and smell the coffee so to speak .
Dont fund the thing anymore , dont even enter it in fact , and when these countrys have there little disastors or when they make there way over here just say Sorry Nil Points and send the buggers packing

It's on here tonight in Oz, and we've had the semi-finals showing for the last 2 evenings too.
My husband loves the show and actually supports Ireland (his original country) but that may be because they won so many times

I'm not sure what people see in it myself. The music is not to my taste, and for years there has been more voting for the politics than for the music anyway. The only good thing used to be watching it with the radio on since there was a DJ that was rude about all the participants. Actually that was the only way my husband would watch it come to think of it

Regards,
Karen

Talking Terry Wogan

We watched Eurovision in here Cyprus last night and we soooooo missed Terry Wogan. He's what makes Eurovision amusing. We found ourselves making woganesque comments.... sad people!

I think Andy sang his heart out, but I think the songs the UK had to chose from weren't good enough and wouldn't appeal to many of the Eastern Bloc countries and that's who we need to attract. Greece proved it could be done with the right song ...they aren't part of any of the big alliances yet came third.

Does anyone know if BBC radio broadcasts Eurovision on radio? Maybe British Forces radio? We need our fix of Terry Wogan-type humour

Ken Bruce used to do Eurovision on BBC radio and he's the one who can be quite rude about the contestants in a very polite and funny way. My husband will be settling down to watch it soon - so shall I go and spoil it for him by telling him who won?

Regards,
Karen

I moved this to the Lounge, as it doesn´t seem much related to being or becoming an expat.

Yes but then that's the way Eurovision is going these days. We aren't the only country complaining, the Cyprus, France and Germany are unhappy too and Italy has already pulled out.

Personally I am not sure how much of the voting is political and how much is just affected by musical taste. When it comes down to it, there are far more Eastern European countries than Western in the competition now and they just like different music.
