Have a giggle on me !!!!

Two points , the rule would not faze me , and salt in quantity is harmfull to ones health .
The enforcement rule would oblige many to exit the forum , we have a lot of happy campers on this forum with quantative advise that would be sorely missed , please take a side-ways glance in a mirror and smile , takes far less muscle usage and consequently , fewer wrinkles . I for one like and enjoy you as you are , but , wait a minute , why should i alienate myself ? Colin .

With respect, the word is spelt LANGUAGE not laguage *:-)

I hate bad spelling too. I particularly hate American spellings with z instead of s. Its fine for Americans, those who have learnt & use American English. But if British English is being used in context then I wish spell-checkers, TV programmes and the like would use s not z.

Right at this moment my spell-checker is telling me I have spelt learnt and programme incorrectly. Grrrrr!

Hello BabsM,I am with you to a certain degree, but, many posters maybe do not have tha same level of literacy as yourself,or English could be thier second or third language. The whole thing in my mind about the use of words,is to be able to communicate in the easiest way possible at any given time.
My wife had little schooling, she was needed to work for family survival, never did learn to read or write even her own native tongue, she has learned Énglishese' from myself.Slowly, proper English has been introduced, she can UNDERSTAND practically anything i or other expats talk about, she has garnered a sense of humour, she is proud of these achievments.
Her work ethic allowed her younger siblings to get an education, probably at her own expense at the time, but she is never angry, now her young sister is attending a school for English. This young lady writes beautiful English and when i can get her to talk, her limited pronunciation is quite good, but she has practically no idea what i am saying to her. So,what was that you(and others) were saying, how all posters should be expected to respond ? Communication is the key word in my thoughts, with your apparent level of education, two or three words out of half a dozen should be sufficient for you to garner the gist of the message. It is known that spelling is not really that important, provded the first and last letters are in place with most of the others 'Somewhere' in between, the mind is quite capable of reading the script as if written and spelt correctly. The world we live in is a long way from being perfect,"patience is a virtue, possess it if you may" "Man should not be judged by his apparell, more his demeanor".
Incidentally,i do not use 'Spell check' ,I prefer to keep my mind alert by means of its own accumen, whence go-eth the mind, there go-eth the body . Colin

I agree with most of what you say, but where have you read that "spelling is not important?"

What if two people applied for the same job and the job involved writing - who would you choose? the one who can spell or the one who can't!
What would you think if you got a letter from your lawyer full of mistakes!

Have a nice day

Michelle
