congrats karen.
i got an adjustment done 2 weeks back and i am down 4 kgs already but now it will be slow.
the change in eating habit is the best. eat 5-6 meals a day, eat slow, chew well, last meal to be before 7.30. no salt after 7.30 and see the difference.

cheers

a quick word. If you starve your body - your fat cells go into 'starvation mode' - and grab any fats that you happen to put in, and store it. Thus defeating the object.

Forget 'blood group' diets, thats bogus science.

You have to train your body to EXPECT food at preset times, and those times ONLY.

I can tell the time by my body and its hunger demands. You also need to understand that 'weight loss' is a by-product of eating healthily. Its not about 'dieting' - its about a complete lifestyle change in approach and attitude.

If you're fat, its because you're eating out of boredom, unhappiness - trying to comfort yourself somehow - using food.

1. Walk. Take a walk. Dont just sit there. Do something casual and physical. Walking is the best easy exercise.

2. Daily water. Around 1.5 liters a day. You want fats to flush from you? The only way it goes out of you is the obvious way. If you arent drinking water daily, nothing really leaves - AND you're in permanent dehydration.

3. Set times for your breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack, and supper. Stick to these times. Your body will freak out for a day or two as you detox naturally, but after a while, it'll stabilize as it realizes that food will be coming at these times.

4. You MUST have daily protein, vegetable, starch, and a small amount of fat. Your body needs it.

(My own times and food intake - which I've been doing for a few years now:

7am small plain yoghurt, rice cake (starch) piece of fruit.

11 am single fruit, rice cake

1pm 200 gram fresh vegetable (usually broccoli) small tin of fish (protein) rice cake

3 small yoghurt, piece of fruit

6-6.30 200 gram fresh vegetable, small tin of fish, rice cake.

Usually night time, I'll have a spoonful of peanut butter - or some equally fatty product, so that my body can grab the
fats it needs, and not go into starvation mode because of a lack of fat.

But that's all that's needed. Weight loss happens, and the body knows to squeal loudly at me if I miss a meal. Other than that, no hunger, no compulsive urges. Every week or two, I supplement with a charred piece of meat (think its something in either the carbon, or the need for 'solid' animal protein).

And water. Lots of water to continually flush the system.

This isn't a 'diet' - its a 'taking charge of an otherwise off-balance compulsive eating lifestyle.'

You'll probably lose a lot in the first week of trying it - but you'll also feel awful - as your body adjusts to regular stable food and food times. That's normal. Biggest problem with western eating, is that the average daily intake of kilojoules (calories) for people, is far too much. Crazily excessive quantities of food.

But I guess that's what happens when people substitute food in place of happiness and 'quality of life.'

Hope this helps someone.

And get enough sleep! I find that it is quite hard to lose weight if you sleep less than 6 hour a day.

I'm not so sure it's that easy. This won't be that popular of a post, but I think it has a lot to do with metabolism and propaganda saying what we "should" look like- when it may be very far from our nature to be so. I am just as embarrased to admit this, but I have always been quite thin- I try and try to eat more- gain weight- and I just don't. (However, admittingly, I am a food snob and will not eat schwaggie food- I am sure that helps too.) But mostly, it's just what my genetics are. Despite the amount I eat, it just does not change. I even went through testing- sure that something was wrong with me! But, at the end of the day- one really has to just be happy with who they are.

I used to be like that. Then everything was changed when I start donating my blood. Somehow I'm very sure that because of it I could gain more weight.
