What do you want?
A support sticky for giving up smoking and dieting ... how would you want that to work?

you are gonna have to exercise. plain and simple. if you dont want to do that then, well you are going to be over wieght for ever. I was tired of being obese. 345lbs. i started walking, not eating as much but still whatever I wanted, and cut my soda (diet coke) intake down to 1 can or 1 glass a day. I am down to 275lbs. I want to get down to 240-245lbs. I lift wieghts everyday so I am a muscular dude so the 200-220lbs is to skinny for my body. I walk 4 miles a day. 2 m iles in the morn, and 2 miles at night. its only about 1 hour total out of your day.

sorry I couldnt tell you there is some special pill to make you lose weight. its just getting off your ass that does it.
I went from 225lbs to 164lbs by doing the Atkins. I ate right though and not just steak for every meal. I was able to loose 25lbs without any exercise other than getting out of bed going to work and coming back home, other than that my ass was firmly planted in a seat. Yet i still lost 25lbs.
I'm in my 30s now with a family so i have lost the urge i had in my 20s to spend hours down the gym aiming for a body resembling a condom full of conkers.
When i reached 200lbs i started cycling for my 25 mile round trip work commute 3 days a week. It takes about the same amount of time i would be stuck in traffic anyway so i don't loose any time with my family either.
At the end of the day to loose weight i think your body just has to burn more than you put it otherwise it gets stored as fat.

Well I just thought that as a few people had talked about diets and and a few about smoking and that some agreed that supporting each other and having kinda buddy system would be good, that if there was a thread that was ongoing, we could all check in with it. It was just an idea. Sometimes my idea's arn't fully worked out. The diet one is a sticky now so I can go in there. The main thing is it will be ongoing

Default lose weight

Hi,

I used to be pretty obese and started putting on a lot of weight especially on my thighs and bottom in my late thirties. I started exercising as often as possible and also cut down on a lot of high calorie stuff. Unfortunately I hardly managed to lose much weight at all. I then recently read an article by a lady who claimed that she managed to lose nearly half of her weight using a particular weight loss supplement. I tried it out and it actually worked quite well. Within 4 months I managed to lose about 65 pounds. The results were pretty amazing and I feel so much healthier and energetic now.(SNIP)

If it worked that well I'm surprised it's not headline news on every newspaper and magazine in the western world.

I read once that french woman stay slim eating heaps of chocolate, that sounds like my kind of diet. Funny thing is I don't crave chocolate much when I'm living here, maybe thats why I've been putting on weight, no choccie. Or maybe its the wine, or beer, margaritas, or the 200g bag of chips that I eat when I'm drinking all of the above. I've been good though go for a walk everyday for at least an hour if that's not enough on its own maybe the stress of dodging the cars will be, lost about 1.5 kgs so far I hope its not just fluid

Well I went for a walk around our local volcano lake today, which is about 5kms. We left it a little late since it had just started to get hot. Even though we took water I still needed more. Just trying to fight off a dehydration headache at the moment

Last night at a Rotary meeting someone asked if I was losing weight and told me it showed and to keep up the good work

Isn't that a good feeling?? When someone notices especially if you yourself aren't sure you have lost a noticeable amount!!

I went back to work at a place where they had seen me at my heaviest but it had been 3 years before. They told me later that they recognized the voice but not the person - until they heard my name. The questions started and my favorite was "What did you do with your 'other half'???" THAT was nice to hear!!
