Whats the law regarding posting a body back to the UK?

Hi Guys,

With the state of the economy how it is... and the ever growing charges for this that and the other I was wondering if anybody knew the regulations regarding posting a dead body back to the UK from Spain?

I'm thinking I can save a hell of a lot of money by posting the body of my mother in-law back to the UK by general postal services. She was not very tall and in all fairness did not weigh very much, so realistically it should be quite cheap to post her.

I have no problems sending her as several parcels.... especially if it proves cost effective! I'm just a bit unsure about Spanish postal regulations?

If anybody can shed any light on this I would be eternally grateful..

Knowing Spanish post offices I have to tell you that you will probably have to stand in line with your parcel for quite some time whilst waiting to buy the stamps and I'm betting that some of the other people in the queue might get a little upset. Although of course people around these parts are well known for parading their dead around the streets

Why are you posting her back?

Strangely enough I was discussing how expensive it is to bury / cremate people nowadays and we were wondering whether people could be buried in compost heaps. For some people that may be giving back to society more when they are dead than when they are alive

Obviously you would need the permission of the compost heap owner and a big enough heap.

Just an idea if the Spanish post office isn't obliging....
