Default Mubarak clinically dead

State-run media reported that ousted President Hosni Mubarak has been declared clinically dead following his transfer to Maadi Military Hospital amid tightened security measures.

MENA said that Mubarak was taken to the intensive care unit upon his arrival to get treatment for a stroke he had suffered earlier Tuesday. The state-run news agency said the prison’s doctors had failed to treat the stroke.

Al-Ahram reported that journalists were banned from entering the hospital.

Brigadier General Mohamed Elewa, spokesperson for the prisons department, had confirmed earlier Tuesday that Mubarak suffered a stroke.

Farid al-Deeb, Mubarak’s attorney, said that the former president had been transferred to a military hospital in Maadi following the deterioration in his health.

Deeb lauded the military leadership for the decision, the website of state-run newspaper Al-Ahram reported.

State-owned news agency MENA said earlier that Mubarak's heart had stopped and a defibrillator had been used on him.

He should have to accept treatment in one of the awful national hospitals, just as Egyptians have to every single day, and languish in cigarette smoke with cats running around his feet, just as hospitalized Egyptians have to do every single day.
