Hi All,

My current contract here in Ireland is up in September and I have been hoping to then make the move out to Dubai. I have been online checking out current positions, and doing as much research as I can. Plan is to apply for as many suitable roles as I can and hopefully I will secure a job. However if say the online route isnt sucessfull my question is Would I be safe enough to relocate in Sept/Oct without a job offer and try to secure a job offer once im out there. - FYI if it helps! - Im in Finance with 4 years experience, Degree Educated,female, 25

Miffy2, I am also hoping to make a move to the Mideast (not just to Dubai) , by the end of year.

Based on my experience so far, there are plentiful finance jobs but employers have been hesitant in relocating from abroad (at least from America). I cant secure anything by March of next year, AT the most, I will relocate and then look locally. Employers hopefully are more receptive when the employee is available locally.

Btw, i am also in Finance/audit.

I have worked in Finance for over 15 years and have been unemployed in Dubai for over a year due to not being able to find any work. My advice would be to stay as far away as you possibly can unless you already have a job. Also from my experience about 99% of jobs advertised through the Net by recruitment agencies don't even exist. BE AWARE!! There are hundreds/thousands of jobs available here but commission only, in other words they have no respect for their employees whatsoever!!! What's even more amazing is the severe lack of talent of people that you come across here and it is still so tough to get a job....sorry to be negative but my feeling is that you are better to know before coming out here as it is a VERY EXPENSIVE place to live if you are unemployed!!!
