"bedroom + hall"? apartment question

Hi guys - just looking at rental apartments and I'm a little confused by the phrase "1 bedroom + hall" etc.

Can anyone explain this to me? What's with the hall?

People describe things oddly here. I don't think hall means anything - perhaps they are stating the obvious cos there isn't much else going for the place, i'm not sure?

I think it means like an entry...
Some place the door opens straight into a living room- others it opens to a small entry.

The hall is the equivalent of the living room.
The small entry leading to the hall is the hallway.

Its not odd...just common words used differently. Like pants in UK and US describes 2 very different items of clothing.

Thanks so much - that's what I thought it meant but then I had images of boarding house hallways with little rooms leading off into the darkness...
