Importing Pets - Experiences?

Hi Everyone
We arrive in September and I've been trying to apply for the import permit online through the Ministry of Environment & Water's website.However, I've not heard back from them despite follow-ups via email.

Failing this, can anyone recommend how I can obtain the permit before we arrive? I've read on previous threads "the Doghouse" provides this type of service. Has anyone used such a service?

I used a company called Dogtainers (they have a website) to transport our cat from Australia. They are an international company and were wonderful. Delivered door to door and took the stress out of everything because I had enough to organise.

When I came over in April my vet sorted everything out for me and the paperwork didn't seem to take that long. Have you got a relocation agent for your dog? Dubai Kennels and Cattery (who more than likely would be the ones picking your dog up at the airport and doing all checks etc at this end) were also really helpful and even answered what I thought were really stupid questions. The whole experience was tiring but I wouldn't change it as I couldn't have left my dogs back in the UK. They settled well and have also adjusted to the heat.

Thanks Whittell. I spoke to the people at Dogtainers and booked in with them (thanks Flossie). Within a day of supplying the relevant paperwork, they had already sent an agent to commence the import permit application.

I checked with my vet also as well as two other large Aussie pet relocation companies and neither offered the service in Dubai.

Hopefully it won't be too big an ordeal for my cat
