Thumbs down Worst freight company ever?

I just wanted to let people know that with some freight companies there will be some problems so ask a lot of questions before choosing them.

We used Dolphin and they seemed pretty good. We got our own container which they suggested and paid even more than the norm. We were told that having your own container guarrantees a faster and safer delivery.

Well faster than what is what they ommited to tell us. It has now been over 6 weeks and we have only just been told that we might get our stuff tomorrow. We were promised and guarranteed a maximum of 4 weeks. When the furniture didn't arrive we had to extend our stay at the hotel, at our own cost, as they don't do any compensation for delays!!!! and we have to pay for handling charges!!!!! which again they omitted to tell us.

They have been terrible as we called them many times and basically as they have closed the deal and got their money, they just didn't want to deal with us and blamed the congestion, which they omitted to tell us, as the cause.

Also if your residency has not come through by the time your furniture arrive, you have to pay a fee and also if customs decides they can put a %5 charge on the total cost of your items!!! which again they omitted to tell us. They actually told us there will not be any charges!!!!!

Basically make sure you know everything that might go wrong and all the charges you might have to pay before signing on the dotted line. Also know that by paying more like we did you don't necessarily get better service.

Dolphin has been an absolute nightmare and very unprofessional. I will never use them again or recommend them, hopefully others would not have had the same problems wth them.

Just bring extra cash just incase your stuff is late as you might haveto stay in a hotel longer than you expect.

This gets better...Our furniture finally arrived today after a long delay. As they were unpacking them we realised that almost all have been damaged. This ranges from deep scratches to broken chairs, smashed mirrors, holes in cabinets, Dvd recorders completely dented, armchairs broken in two and on and on. We have yet to see if the TVs work.

I am not materialistic but I cried. I have to say that Dolphin has been the WORST shipping company ever with almost no customer aftercare.

I am glad we took insurance against the agents advice, "as you are getting a container just for you, you will not have any damage". "The extra money you are paying ensure a safe journey for your items".

We have emailed them but will have to wait and see.

Has anyone had damage to their items and if so what has happened?

Totally agree! Some of these companies are just out to make a quick buck - the minute they have their money, they completely wash their hands of you!

I hope that you are compensated as well P-K cause this is totally disgraceful!
