Default Guys......sorry need advice!

Hi guys,

I've verbally offered a position in Dubai as a QS, the thing is my prospective employer has asked me to come back to them with my expected Salary. I've not committed to any figure as yet and asked them if there is a housing, car, utility allowance in addition to the salary. They've since replied and told me that the salary includes all the aforementioned.

I'm slightly confused as I don't want to sell myself down the river, but at the same time don't want to request something that they see as excessive.

My current salary in the UK is £52,000.

I enjoy a decent social life, gym, bars, restaurants etc and will be coming out on my own.

Any ideas where I should be pitching at, was thinking all in at 50,000dhs per month and working from there!?!?!

Many thanks

Yours

Confused

If you're single, you could live quite nicely like that. Ask if they will give you an advance to pay your annual rent upfront.

Hi Jagger

I've recently received a couple of offers for a Senior QS role in Dubai, the basic is comparable with what I earn in the UK (I'm at Associate level) with the added bonus of being tax free, offers are around 40,000.

Offers are an all in package and include for accommodation, utilities, furniture allowance and transport. On top of this is a relocation allowance, flights, medical insurance, life cover and an end of contract bonus.

Hope this helps.

This would work out at about £7k (slightly over depending on exchange rate!). I think that even with the odd extravangance, you should be able to live very comfortably on this package. I'm a QS as well but with just over 1 year experience. My package is £45,500. I even turned down a higher offer of £52,000!

Even if your employer does not offer you your accommodation allowance upfront, you can still get a rent loan. However, it would be cheaper to get an interest free loan from your employer.
