Default what to bring ???

Does anyone have suggestions on specific things you found helpful to do in the States before moving to Dubai?(papers, medical,...)
If you remember things that once you got there you said"I wish I brought...""I wish I did this..."
Money:what is the best way to bring money with you that you can cash easily there?what method of payment is acceptable for rent,schools..
I am in the countdown mode, I am flying out the 21 and my mind is working on how to make sure not to forget anything (hopefully!)
This forum has been so helpful and I truly appreciate all your input.
Stay cool!

You can access monies in your US bank account via ATMs here, but you shoud open a bank account as soon as possible as the safest way to transfer money is from account to account. Otherwise bring in some cash and then travellors cheques. You can exchange some at the airport when you land and rates are better here than outside the country.

You will be expected to pay rent by cheque - from a local account.

Any document that need to be attested must be done in your home country.

Bring some personal effecs with you - favourite books, photos, pictures etc. That way you can make a place feel like home. Don't forget a couple of jumpers - aircon can be cold and winter is chilly. You'll want pashminas for that too, but can get them here cheaply.
