Question Money to Dubai

Does anyone know what is the maximum amount of Dollars someone can take into the country (Dubai), I do not want my old bank account and am closing it, my company will sponsor me for an account in Dubai, just wanted to know what cash I can take, any left I will take in traveller cheques. (I assume they are OK!):

This took a little searching but the answer is that you may bring in up to USD 10,000, or equivalent in cash.

I also recommend that you retain a UK bank account as if you return you will find it hard to open an account without a credit history. Just keep a basic account running with a small balance.
