Hi Joanne,

I moved your post to the Dubai forum where you'll get a better response.

Lately there has been a drive on shared/bachelor accomodation in Dubai and it has often been coming in the newspapers.
In fact, I work as Finance Manager for a large group and we were given a notice to move out our bachelor staff from a particular designate area.
This is not to scare you but just to caution you. Please do check once again with your employer or landlord whether or not there shall be any issues. For a female executive, I do not see any major issues.
I will be happy to assist you in any other queries about Dubai since I have been living here for the past 5 years. You may get in touch with me at : gentlebeing4u@yahoo.co.in
Cheers!

all I would say is make sure that you get a good enough housing allowance to pay for somewhere, a 1 bed apartment is in the region of 100k these days.

Hi thanks for the advice gentlebeing!

I will be working for a large publishing house and although the apartment is ok i was looking to share with some other people after my initial 3 months. Why do you have to move from your accomadation?

Is this the same in Abu Dhabi?

i am moving out there in 2 months and will be staying in a 3-bed apt with 2 other work colleagues (male). I have been told i can stay there indefinitely...

I am getting a 120k AED accommodation allowance that the company will retain as long as i stay in this apt - if i chose to move out and find my own place then i receive this money. The 120k covers accommodation, utilities and maid.

i've heard it is getting near impossible to find 1-bed apts or studios. they get snapped up immediately. Does anyone have an idea of the cost of a 1-bed or studio in Abu Dahbi with associated costs for utilities?
