Hi,

Although I realize that this topic might be similar to existing ones, I still need some sort of guidance as to where to live now that I will be moving to dubai.

I am more concerned about traffic (time lost) and have thinking about living in areas close to downtown dubai rather the ones farther like JBR

My work is located pretty close to Bur Dubai.

If you can shed some light, that wouldbe great! Thanks

so I have some questions for you.

a) How much time will I take to get from JBR to Bur Dubai If I leave around 7:20 AM and take the highway (tolls) ?

b) Same as a) but taking the JB road (I guess the speed limit is 70Km/h?)

c) Are there any nice areas that you think are not far from Bur Dubai by car (looking for 20 minutes range or less)?

b) Jumeriah Beach Road has loads of traffic lights along it, to drive the length of it can take ages and get frustrating at times, even if the traffic is free moving.

c) Apartments - Bur Dubai, Oud Metha. Villa - Jumeriah 1

Bur Dubai itself is one of the older yet busier areas of Dubai so you are always going to have a problem with traffic to some extent. Also these areas are a lot more multi cultural and offer up very different living to JBR. Personally I prefer these more organic areas by miles but I can see how people would rather just take the ease of JBR.

You could always look at Barsha or Tecom, these are sort of halfway between JBR/JLT and Bur Dubai. The advantage of them is they are somewhat cheaper than JBR and the Marina but close enough to drive to. The thing about Bur Dubai is that it can be a pain to travel to and from that place so even if you live in Bur Dubai, it might take you quite a bit to get to and back from work. Plus if you want to go out later on you might get sick of having to deal with that traffic again.

I lived in Deira which can be better or worse traffic wise and it sometimes took 20-30 minutes just to go from one side/end of the street to the other. I could've walked faster!
