Default Taking over your villa contract

I've just been told our landlord has sold our villa and we're looking to rent another one (we're in Springs 1 at the moment). We'd quite like to take over someone else's contract with six months left on it. We need somewhere from Dec? Can anyone help. We'd like 3 beds plus study or maybe four preferably in the early springs. Thanks!

I don't believe that you can legally 'take over a contract' as it is written between two specific parties. Bear in mind that sub-leting without aproval is illegal. You may however, find a landlord who would be willing to allow a six month lease.

People seem really resistant to that though. Thanks for the info - we will investigate further!

You can take over another contract as long as the landlord gives written permission. It would be generally easier to do a 6 month let. Try using the Rental wanted section of Dubizzle. Failing that you will probably find it easier to get a flexible Landlord in December as demand dries up.

Why not sign up for a year, write in a notice period for getting out of the contract and give the notice as per the agreement

Because it's rarely as simple as that. Most contracts require notice plus a penalty. Very unusual to get a LL to agree to something different.

They are out there. Just hard to find. It will severely limit your choice of villa as well as the more desirable villas will not need to be this flexible.
