Hi all

This is probably a really silly question, but are there any restrictions on having visitors stay with you in Dubai? My family all want to come and stay while I'm over there, including my sister and her boyfriend; I know unmarried couples aren't supposed to live together, so would this apply to them too, or cause any problems if they were staying with me?

Any advice would be appreciated as always!

Thanks

It shouldn't be a problem, but tell them to get used to refering to each other as husband & wife! If they have concerns, tell them to go through passport control seperately.

Good luck with the visitors - they are usually exhausting when you are working full-time! Let me know if you want any suggestions as to what to do with them, although I strongly recommend a Big Bus tour.

thanks Elphaba - the string of potential visitors seems to be ever-increasing and I have to remind people that I will be working, not just on an extended holiday!

I don't arrive until June and have no idea when anyone is actually planning to come and stay, but will definitely take you up on the offer of advice as to what to do with them nearer the time.

Ah - that's the problem with living here. Visitors do think you are on permanent holiday. Suggest you make it very clear to them before they come out that you will be working. Try to make them wait until October too, as by then you will be settled and Ramadan will be over.
