Default School Fees Assistance

I know that this question is a bit company dependant - but I need to check to see if my company is being fair or unrealisitic :

In general in typical British ex pat contracts is it normal that an allowance is paid for schooling or normal that school fees are fully covered ?

My allowance for each kid is 20,000 AED per year. Based on school fees at 32,000 per child with 3 kids I am paying out 36,000 per year myself.

Is this a good - bad or standard offer.

Would appreciate any comments.

Hi Laney
Like you mentioned, there is no "norm"

It is totally dependent on the company...some pay a lot higher, and some dont cover school fees at all.

20,000 dhs each is low, but is certainly better than none! Is there a chance you could squeeze more out of them?

I would allow no less than 30,000 dhs per child, and anywhere up to 60,000 dhs
(prices vary from school-school, and year of child)

I know one of the users on the board, pays 30,000 dhs for the 3 year olds school....quite the norm.

You also need to allow money for uniforms and transport to school (ie bus) if you cant take them.

it all depends on the company at the end of the day, we get 50% of school fees.
