Default Solvent Abuse

As a child of the 70's in the UK, I know all too well about glue/gas sniffing and noticing it's been in the paper recently following the death of a young lad a party.

It was rife when I was a kid, went on at youth clubs, after school, in fields and abandoned houses. It's seen it's fair share of fatalities too, the main problem is that there is no relation between the amount taken and it's effects, meaning it is impossible to gauge what is enough or 'safe' and that someone trying it for the first time can actually die.

It's practically unheard of now in the UK, certainly not the same level it was 25 years ago. Mainly due to education and frank and honest information about the dangers and risks.

And it's with this, that is saddens me to read this sensationalist rubbish -

gulfnews : Teen trouble: Young and reckless in Dubai

Linking solvent abuse with spoilt out of control teens, parties organised on facebook where girls take their top off, everyone drunk and inhaling gas.

Finally

"I feel that it's better for these kids to get a taste of jail time to scare them off than to fall into this substance abuse trap"

Nice bit of understanding and forgiving parenting there.

Hi I know in not in dubai, but i do feel so sorry for the parents the pain they be going through. I do hope they read some other forums on this. I can't get this but if the uae is so strick on silly things like holding hands n kissing and being big groups and other odd ideas . Mybe time wake up do something about . Make a stand shout out loud get it banned . Like ever thing else it be swept under the carpet. And we be here next yr talking about it. And someone elses son or daughter will be on a slab DEAD .
