Lightbulb FINAL OFFER, advice please !

Hi,

After 2 weeks of negoiation, the company is going to offer me the below package for a middle engineering manager post:

Salary + Housing + All Cash allowances = AED401,000 (all in cash)
Medical = provided by company (include depandants)
Fuel = 2 fuel cards will be given (up to AED12000 per yr.)
Schooling = AED50000 per child (up to 2 kids - paid directly by receipt)
Air Tickets = 1 round-trip economy tickets for the family to the place of hire
1 month salary for each year of service (given in end of service)
12% retirement fund counted from the basic salary

The job is a permanant post. Do u think it is a fair deal and good enough for a family with 2 adults and a 4-yr old kid ?

Many Thanks.

Assuming you will be happy in a 2-bed apartment (or one of the tiny 2 bed villas in The Springs) with rent at around 140k pa I'd say you'd do just fine, especially if the company will cover school fees.

I am surprised to see both a Gratuity (end of service payment - standard for employees here) and a retirement fund contribution. The Gratuity is designed as a 'pension replacement', so get that written into the contract, both in English & Arabic.

Good luck. Do let us know what you decide to do.

I have seen that recommendation here a couple of times now. Why is an English contract not sufficient?

Because this is the UAE. Whilst English is widely used and understood, Arabic is the official language.
