Default Questions

Hello Everyone,

I have been reading this site for the last two days and have found more information than i thought, but still a few questions. (have read 20 reasons not to go to dubai and 20 reasons to go to dubai, and lots of other info.)

My husband is still in the process of final interviews and we have put forward our salary expectations.

Questions
1. Any Aussie's that call home - what is your monthly phone bill in Dhs.

2. Are all the rentals unfurnished.

3. If they are unfurnished (I have been on the gulf news for second hand furniture) noticed a few stoves for sale. Are stove/cookers not included in a rental.

4. also noticed lots of cupboards - in aussie we have whats called builtins (which in usually some draws and then hanging space.) do rental have no cupboards/builtins.

5. I understand that things are expensive and have complied a budget based on info from this great website plus others. But what about overseas travel from dubai to places (maybe italy, greece, turkey etc) can you get good packages including flights, accommodation for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children).

Thanks k

not from Oz so no help there!!

furnished and unfurnished apartments available, depends on your budget. Some places have fitted wardrobes some don't depends on the property. Ovens, tons of them and cheap and you normally buy your own. Travel to Europe reasonably priced - Emirates Holidays.

You should be sorting out school places though as waiting lists are really bad and accomodation isn't easy to find either.

We have included transfer, housing, car, phone, medical and schooling in our package. 180,000 Dhs for housing. Once the final interview is done we will then negotiate.
Schooling 75,000 dhs, the company said they will help sort that out. I will home school them until I get a place. The offer is quite good to turn down to wait for a place for them. Company is organising the housing to.

My husband is going first and then I will follow when he is ready...visa, housing etc.
We have asked for a base salary at 140,000 AUD which coverts to 480,000 Dhs plus the package above. Sounds alot but they are still interviewing and looking when he can come.

He builds unit building/highrise here, manages a formwork company.

Thanks for the link to holiday. You help alot of people on this site so thankyou for taking the time. Cheers k

well done that sounds like a great package! the housing might be slightly under market levels but the company your joining sound decent. Now concentrate on schooling. The Wellington International School is popular with the Ozzies.

Thank-you, once we know what building and what area, my husband will be working in - I can look at rental and change the price package. Thanks for the tip about the school.
