Default Calling Espanol speakers in Dubai / A.D.

Hello Forum,

I been in Abu Dhabi for about 6 months now and everythings lovely so far, been busy with work so far so not out n about as much as id like but hopefully start makin some changes 2 that side of things...

Anyway, I guess maybe a little background to explain the thread title, Im originally from NW London but got a place in Spain some years ago - eventually the longterm plan is to try and move over there but since the UK and Spanish economies and construction industries went pop my plans somewhat delayed now - still im thankful I was lucky enough to find work here in AD,

But more to the point, even if the money bubbles hadnt burst, i think i would have had problems in Spain not knowing the language, hence my post - basically now i have a bit more time here in the UAE, i'm trying 2 spend some of the time usefully and learn spanish, i have some ebooks and CD's but its tricky and need help,

Sooooo if any of you people out here on the forum can speak spanish, or want to improve yourself (eg we could help each other) or even better if you are from spain, id love to hear from you if you would be kind enough to help me along,

Im not after anything formal as im pretty easygoing, i guess more after some people to meet up with and try conversing with and talk about spanish ways of life and maybe even if anyone knows about construction in spain,

Certainly we could do this over some good food or coffee or beer - after all i dont want anyone considerate enough to help me to just sit there and listen to me stumble along, id hope itd be a good time for all interested,

Heres hoping..... have a gr8 weekend otherwise,

I'd dearly love to go back too, if it weren't for the pitiful state of the economy. Feeling quite nostalgic now

Hello all,

Thanks for the replies,

I have a place in Mar De Cristal, its near Cartagena about 120 km from alicante, Nothing major, just a little apartment but i really like it, sooo peaceful!

I must say, it doesnt seem like many people from spain, lots of brit, french, dutch and germany etc but i guess its just how it is,

what did you guys do out in spain, how do you rate it compared to here and UK - actually i dont think u cud really compare that fairly but your opinion would be intertesting,

reason i ask is i havent ever lived there, just holidays, so at the moment my dream of settling theres probably a bit rose tinted but I guess thats like everywhere before you get there,

do you all speak spanish?

cheers

K

I was working there and absolutely loved every single second. An hour's drive to ski in the Pyranees, half an hour to the beaches, nights out in Barcelona. Not all on the same day, of course. Yups, I speak Spanish.
