Default Residency visa - bit complicated

Hello, and thanks to those who have responded to my previous posts...

Another query I'm afraid.. thanks for your patience!

As you know, I married in Dubai in May to my Iraqi husband (who works in Dubai). We are renting an apartment in Ajman. I am currently in the UK working notice in my job and flat... Obviously I will be going to the UAE (Ajman) to be with my husband.

What are the things I need to do to get residency, it all seems so complicated when I simply, as a wife, want to live with my husband... (planning on leaving the UK on 11th July).

Also, I did read somewhere that if my husband sponsors me, I can't work. For me, after a period of say 6 months, I may decide to start looking for a job in Dubai. Can anyone clarify this? Is there anyone I can speak to, i.e. UAE embassy in London?

If anyone can help it would be so appreciated. Didn't realise all this would be so complicated!!! Would he have all this hassle if he wanted to come to the UK to live with me???

Many thanks!

Hi,

As I understand it, once your husband has his residence permit he can apply to sponsor you. You will need to undergo a medical, the whole process takes a few weeks and is fairly straight forward. My company helped us with my wife's which made things simpler.

Once you have your residence permit it does not entitle you to work. However, you can apply for jobs under your husbands sponsorship, once successful, your employer can apply for a labour card on your behalf which allows you to work.

You should be fine, sounds more complicated than it is :-)

Your company PRO should assist with all visa/residency issues.

As a married woman under her husband's sponsorship you simply require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for your husband, i.e. a letter of permission, in order to work. You will also require NOCs to do things like obtain a driving licence etc. Your visa will say 'housewife - not allowed for work' but it is perfectly to work with permission.
