Last 2 employers I interviewed with, in the Emirates, asked me this question:

Do you have other family members/relatives in the region?


Why are they inquiring about that?

• Is it because they want to know if I have any support network?
• or is it because they fear I am just moving to be closer to them?

I would say it's because people who have family ties in the region are more likely to stay longer.

The UAE is relatively tolerant of us Westerners, but if your prospective employers were Islamic companies, it could be that you are an unmarried female? In Saudi for example you should not out in public with a man than you can marry, ie only your husband, father, brother..
Or it could be that they think you will get lonely and go home..
Did you get offered the jobs?

Well I don't have an official offer letter yet. But i am fairly optimistic about at least one of them.
