Default Ad-hock work for UK Company whilst being sponsored by husband

My hubby is already a resident in the UAE, I am going to join him at the end of May.

There is a possibility of me working for my current employers, who have a UK incorporated company (Also Faroese and Norweigan inc companies), on an ad-hoc basis once I relocate. The work would be sales/business development.

Anyone know what visa/permit I would need?

I read somewhere that when you are sponsored by your husband you can work for someone in the UAE on a work permit, but still be sponsored by your hubby?
I have tried googling this but can't find any relevant information.

Thanks
M

That is true - Husband sponsors you and issues a letter of non-objection "permitting" you to work. My wife and I will doing this in the coming weeks so I'll let you know how it goes.

A housewife aquiring a labour card is easy. You need

- a copy of your attested qualification / school certificate / college diploma / whatever
- a letter from your husband giving his permission for you to work
- a passport photo of you and of him
- a copy of his passport and visa
- a copy of your passport and visa

Provide all these documents to your employer, it is their responsibility to organise your labour card, and also to pay for it.

i'm doing this now, no dramas at all.

Hi
Thanks for your replies.
Are your employers from local companies or from the UK?
Anyone know how a UK employer without a formal branch in the UAE goes about processing a work permit for a UAE resident (UK citizen)?
My work will likely involve travel over much of the middle east, so I need to do this right to make sure I get back in the UAE at the end of my business trips!
Thanks again
M

If the UK company wants to do business here, I'm almost certain they need to set up a branch of an overseas company with the appropriate departments. I don't know much more about it so I will let someone else answer

in short, I can't imagine a company not registered in Dubai would have any kind of authority or permissions to grant you a labour card, or even a visa for that matter.

Sounds complicated - but thanks for the pointers anyway.

Will talk to my boss about this straight away, and make some enquiries to the Foreign Office or maybe the DTI (if it still exists!).

Thanks for all your help - might end up just looking for a job locally, so would love to hear how ou get on Ghengis.

Regards
M
