Default Looking to relocate to Dubai

Hi,

I am currently looking at relocating with my family to Dubai due to the terrible economic situation here in the UK, can I ask anyone currently living in Dubai to educate me as the opportunities currently out there.

My background is sales & marketing, I would genuinely appreciate your feedback & any useful tips you woul be kind enough to share with me.

I am also considering getting a flight and chancing setting up a meetings with agencies in Dubai without prior appointment, do you think this would be wise or not?

Thank you in advance

Hello,

You might have read a few of the threads on this forum already about work in the UAE.

Dubai is no different than any other parts of the world. The economic situation here is no different than the UK, Italy, Germany, USA and Japan (who are all in recession).

At the moment companies are laying off staff not employing them.

The UAE is a global marketplace. You will be in competition with workers from India and Asia.

Contact agencies in the UK with offices in the UAE first. You could save yourself a lot of cash.

ExpatAl is on the button, Dubai is experiencing a real downturn. It has been reported that the authorities are currently cancelling between 1500-2000 visas per day.

Of the hardest hit has to be construction with many projects cancelled and halted within the last few weeks.

I would strongly recommend you contacting the main agencies here first such as Hill McGlynn, Beresford Blake Thomas, Hays etc, but don't expect too much as there will be a large number of people already in the region desparately seeking employment.
