Unhappy Is it true?

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and have read some great advice here, but I have some major concerns. My American husband and son and I (I'm a Brit) would like to move for a job to Dubai.

What I'm worried about is for the safety of my son. I've heard of a story of a woman's son being kidnapped, I've heard that the boys are valuable and the girls are not.

As a white women going shopping, sight seeing, play groups, etc... should I be worried that I could get ambushed or high jacked?

I know this sounds daft but I just want to any ones thoughts on this issue!

Thanks,

Joanna

You know we've had similar questions before and let me be the first to tell you that it is a very safe environment here the only danger I think you face here is as a pedestrian if you haven't got your wits about you and watching out for traffic

Oh God no. Just like anywhere else in the world you need to teach your kids about stranger danger etc. There are kids kidnapped in Australia, you live in the US where kids are kidnapped, would you have the same problems moving to Canada where kids are kidnapped? Honestly, personal safety (outside of the car) is really not an issue. As a white/yellow/pink/purple woman who is Christian/Muslim/Buddhist/Prays to the cat, you do not have to worry about about being ambushed or highjacked.

Thank you for your replys. I agree with you that children need to learn stranger safety even if they lived in a bubble. I just wanted to have any doubt in my mind removed before jumping into relocation with a 1 year old

I'm excited for the adventure. I meet my husband in Australia I moved to America and now we have relocated to England.... what can I say... I'm a gypsy (with hotel taste ) at heart!

Haha. Me too. If there's no roomservice, I consider it camping.

You honestly have no need to worry.

i have never felt as safe anywhere as i do here.

as most have said, you still need to keep your wits about you but thats the same everywhere

i wouldnt worry, i know loads of people here with children and they dont have any (except the norm) worries about their little ones.

Hi Joanna

Every parent’s concerns about the safety of the family. But in uae you don’t have to worry about kidnapped or ambushed or high jacked or killing or gun shooting. Uae its save environment for living specially of you have kids. Don’t listen to story. Ask real people who lived in uae of long time they will tell you. And what macca mentioned the traffic and people on the highway with new license.
