Question Step-daughter dilemma

Hi, We are in India & my husband has found employment in Sharjah ( Dubai ) & we'll have to soon leave. I have a daughter ( 9 Yrs ) from my first marriage. I do not work. We all want to live together but do not know about school admission processes , the papers required etc. I cannot get my first husband's consent as I dont know where he is. I'm yet to apply for her passport. Can my husband take both of us to Sharjah & can we get her admitted to school there? He should be having some rights as the step-father. Somebody please guide.

In Dubai it's no problem, as you don't know where the father is, (I answered this recentl, do a search under stepchildren or similar...) I can't answer re. sharjah, it should be the same, but as this is often done at a captain level at the immigration dept. it depends on him. You shouldn't have any problem, your husband should be able to sponsor you both (providing salary and position requirements are OK), but you just never know.

Get her passport ASAP, once the sponsorship is through there's no problem with the money grabbing *******s, sorry those nice admissions officers, in schools....

The school websites will tell you what is required eg: fees, transfer certificate from previous school, copy of passport, passport photos etc.

Thanks, I was wondering with one father's name in the passport & step father signing for her school papers .... ? will they pose objections for these & also want to know what docs they might ask .... The school websites dont have these checklists.
