Question Expat newbie

Hi all,

I am a 25 yr old Australian male looking to move to the UAE asap! I am an education graduate - just finished a post-graduate diploma in Education specializing in Health and Physical education. I am also a qualified fitness professional, and have been working in the Health and Fitness industry for the past 3 years. Also have a Bachelor of Sports Studies under my belt.

I hope to eventually be teaching HPE there, but I realise that the new school year doesn't start until August/September, so there are very few opportunities/vacancies right now. So I have been looking at jobs in the fitness industry there as a fitness professional - but I am getting the vibe that they are very poorly paid - approx 4000 AED/month I am willing to take on prettymuch any work that pays decent enough money to get by (approx 10 000 AED/month). I want to have work lined up before moving there but I realise that is a huge challenge in itself. I dont want to take the risk of moving there without having a job already lined up. Difficult circumstances...

Can anyone please help/ give some advice? Would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Tim.

Sadly I have to say 'join the queue', if you do a search of the forum, there seems to be a massive influx of people looking for jobs in the fitness industry here. I think most PT's earn extra cash by doing private personal training on the side, some people are full-time freelancers - they have their own visas.

Hi Tim,

Yeah this is very true that its not an easy thing to get a job lined up before you moved to Dubai.

One thing you can do is to travel to dubai on visit visa and give some interviews and watch yourself the condition of jobs in your field. That way you can have your own by hand experience and able to get a clear view of almost everything like accommodation, packages, living standards and almost everything.

Hello Tim

Do check classified job section of all the leading newspapers online, you can apply & may schedule interviews, however the industry you looking may not meet your salary expectations. Forward your resume to recruitment agencies, they do have lot of positions available mostly on their website. I would say don't move till you really have some scheduled interviews/meetings.

Good luck!!!
