Smile new arrival

Hi all I am wandering if somebody could help me I have been offered a job in Jebel Ali for 25000 per month, medical insurance, 30 days holiday per year and a free flight home every year. They will subsidise my accomodation so a 1bdr appartment would be 5000 per month which would leave me 20000 per month to live on. I am married but my wife will be flying between Jebel Ali and New Zealand to start off with untill my yougest son has settled into uni life, would 20000 per month be enough for me to live off.
Thanks in advance for your help in is much appreciated

Hi tplions, are you sure they said 'subsidise'? It is standard practice to offer an accommodation allowance as part of a package here but I don't think subsidised apartments are common. If that is definitely the case and you just have to contribute 5k pm, presumably the company owns the apartment block. I would be tempted to negotiate the package and ask for your accommodation to be fully included. Also make sure you know where it will be and what it's like before you commit!

Alternatively, if it is a 5k accom allowance, you will have to make up the balance of your rent from your salary and that will be a massive cut and make it not worth your while.

What do you work as?

Hi Sparkysair
Thanks for your reply subsidise was probably my wording what they actually said was that they have accomdation for the people that work for them and it would cost me 5000dhs per month for a 1bdr appartment in the block so i pressume that they own the block.
Thanks again for your help

It isn't bad, especially with the way the economy is at the moment.

Just watch some of the small print, things like the annual flight home may only kick in after 12months service. Similarly, you may find you can't take annual leave until after you complete your probation period.

Hi Cadas
Thanks for your reply did the starting salary look alright to you and thanks for the advice about the small print.
