Question Visa Run HELP!

I need to make a visa run for a friend of mine who has been visiting me. We used up her 90 days and I need her to stay and help me for 15 more days. The visa people told me to do a visa run. Where and how? Is driving better the flying? Where is the quickest place to drive to? Where to fly to? HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also I heard that that if your visa expires that you just pay a 25 aed fine per day and get a jail card? What does this mean? Will she really got o jail?

Thanks

Smiles,

Check out the website for DNRA, there is a wealth of info on this. You didn't mention the nationality of your friend.....this would help us to answer your question.

I did a visa run in May; after consulting the wise ones of this forum, I ruled out driving to Oman and opted to fly to Doha instead. There were increased costs such as visa charges to enter Qatar plus as I was visiting a friend who had just moved there from Kuwait, I paid for hotel accomodation and transport costs to and from Doha airport.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Who did you use to fly to Doha? She is from the US. We have no choice but to do a Visa run. She has used up all extensions.

Thanks

Hi Smiles,

I flew with Qatar Airways (national carrier for the country)

I'm not sure what the Immigration rules are for US citizens, check the DNRA website and also check Qatar Embassy website for entry rules into Qatar.

I think the fine is 100dirhams per day. That's what I had to pay when leaving on a red eye flight 2 hrs after my visa expired.

I think the rules are the same for Americans, Brits and Europeans.

I came on a 60day visa this time, so if I don't find work before it's expired i'll try to extend it another 30days or do a visa run to Oman if I have to. Hopefully, they'll still allow that a month from now. Visa rules seem to change on a weekly basis here.

Yes, I paid using my debit card. When going through Immigration checks once you've landed, you can pay there and your passport is stamped.

I think, if my memory serves me right, I paid approx 100 Riyals but don't quote me on that price.
