Default Visit visa and working

Hi

I remember reading a while back that people regularly do a border run and live in UAE for years doing that.

My question is, can you work whilst on a 30 day visit visa?

If so, how? Do you get a special work permit or something?

I have an interview for a job in AD but was just wondering if this is possible or if the only way is work permit then sponsored residency.

You need a work permit to work in the UAE. Working on a visit visa is not allowed. You can search for a job while on a visit visa and if you get hired they may let you start and work the first week while your work visa is being processed. Once you have your work visa you can get a physical, and register for your Emirates ID, and then they can start processing your residency visa
