Default Hello....and thanks

Hi all

Just thought I'd drop a note on here introducing myself.

After quite a long career in a certain American investment bank as a project manager in the FM team I got a bit of shock last Monday when it all went slightly wonky...

ANYWAY.....after many calls and meetings I got a job offer in Dubai, very last minute.

This forum has helped me immensely in my decision, your thoughts and advice have helped me realise that its economically viable.

The whole 'will it work for me' decision I'm sure can only come from actually giving it a go. With that in mind I accepted the offer this morning, am out there in 2 weeks and should get a feel for the place during a 3 month probationary period with a construction company working as a project manager.

After this, I'll be bringing my beautiful lady, my cats and perhaps my ipod.

Many of the questions pertaining to my own positon have been answered by your posts, so just wanted to say thanks.

If you see a light skinned shaven headed slightly burned guy in a couple of weeks aimlessly wandering around, looking a little lost, just shout SEAN....it's bound to me!

All the best

Sean

All

Thanks for the replies.

Sad as it is, seing other people having the same fears as me as helped me enormously, don't feel so alone.

I know a few people working in Dubai, so initial 3 months on my own shouldnt be too bad, perhaps not so good for my kidneys though.

Hope to meet up with you all when I get there.....2 weeks today....yep...still scared

Hi Sean with your positive attitude you will be fine - good luck with the move. There are meet ups organised on here so you can get to know some people pretty quickly after you arrive. If I see anyone of your description wandering around aimlessly I will be sure to shout hi!
