Driving a car will probably have a lot more paper-work, because you will not only need to get yourself there legally, but also get the car there legally. I would recommend asking a lawyer.

Don't know if this will be of any help but we drove from UK to Bulgaria. You need to apply for an International Driving Licence. Which can be obtained via RAC for about £10.50. We changed the plates on the vehicle once we were there. i.e. Sold the vehicle to our company then registered it in Bulgaria so that we didn't keep getting broken into!! English plates on a vehicle here is simply asking for trouble. Check out the web site for RAC for routes too. They give you all the costings as well as the best routes. Good Luck. Oh and if you are carrying goods (household) we had to have intinary ready for border crossings.

Hi Rod
Something my wife has been suggesting ~ probably not just yet, but it would be great to know how you get on. Equally interested in permits, visas and paperwork. What about insurance, security of car and contents etc?
Have a safe journey. Regards Chris

Hi We are also planning on bringing our car when we come , but I have found one "info" site which suggests there is a lot of paperwork to get the car street legal , and also that the car will have to be converted to LH drive , which seems odd given that the road rules in Cyprus are the same as in England . Can anyone confirm or refute this please JCR

hi, we too are planning to drive our car over - some time around september - so if you could keep a journal with how you have done it ,that would be really useful for those who come after (us, for instance) good luck.

I have found an information sheet on a property site which gives details on importing cars , and a lot of other good stuff . Try googling Fitzgeraldcyprus and see the information sheets
