Default Investing in a better future for Cyprus

I do wish that more thought was put into creating a better future for Cyprus , even with the chronic water shortages we still see new Golf Courses being built and more Holiday Homes !
Yet not much thought on sustainable resources - eco - friendly builds with better use of Solar Energy for electricity etc , developers perhaps should have to build water-desalination units before being allowed to build more villas ?

It feels like ' short term make quick cash ' over rides long term ' quality of life ' to me !

Later this Month when i arrive back in my Campervan ' , i would of thought of parking it at a nice Site ..... but i look at Latchi and see the ' mess ' of derelict caravans there ....right next to beauty spots like Aphrodites Baths ... and scratch my head thinking ' WHY " does the local council not clear it up ?
Another Camping Site at Polis is a great spot for a quiet swim .....but again such a mess that it would not interest Tourists !

Anyone else feel that Cyprus is fast disappearing under concrete and will soon be called :
' The land of the rising Kiosk " ?

Mike

I agree wholeheartedly with you Mike. This is why we are actively working with some of the more forward thinking developers who are using eco friendly building methods, put in water recycling units in their new houses, photovoltaic energy etc.
The smaller developers are starting to think of these things, it is the big developers who are slow to change but they will need to start thinking about the future or they will go under as more and more people demand eco friendly buildings.
As for golf courses, licences which had been granted for several golf courses have been revoked and the rules are changing so that any new golf courses which are built will have to have desalination plants.

Regards Veronica

Its great to hear that you are involved in making positive changes Veronica and i know of others like a Greek Cypriot friend not far from Polis , though he owns half a Mountain and has permission to develop it ; he refuses to have any ' concrete ' or to pollute the land = there are other ways like you say and he wants his great grand children to enjoy the land like he has !

I suppose that ' greed' has led others to be short sighted , At Polis with a good Caravan Club Manager ..the Area could be a joy - the showers would work and refuse cleared ...it would not take us all much effort to help make changes .
