Smile excited and confused

Hi can anyone inform us on what 1st legal steps you need to take in moving to Cyprus? We are both British Citizeans and would probably be looking to rent probably in the paphos area to begin with and be looking for work. I have read your site all day and hope that someone can answer my question. Many Thanks

Hi Patch,
To begin with you dont need to do anything if you are intending to rent initially.
Once you are over here if you intend to stay you can apply for a residents permit.
It is a good idea to de-register with the tax office in the Uk and register over
here if you are going to work as you would pay less tax over here. You would each have an allowance of £10KCyp before paying any tax and after that its 10%.
I can put you in touch with people who will help you with registering etc for a very small fee. It is well worth it because unless you know exactly what you are doing you will be back and forth to imigration, waiting for hours for your turn to be seen. There is a lady called Gwenny who does all that for you.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Regards
Veronica
