Talking Veiwing Trips

Hello

Can anyone advise me about these 3 day veiwing trips that developers offer. We were at a holiday home exhibition at the weekend and were offered by a couple of companie's £49 veiwing trips.

Are these any good? or will they try it on with their hard sale's tactics once we are out there?

Sorry if this is repeated on here.
Any thoughts would be well recieved.

Hi, and welcome to the forum

The answer to your question is yes, of course they will. They are devoting a lot of time and effort in lookng after you on the viewing trip .... and there is only one reason they have got you there ...... to buy a house

I've heard peoples accounts of going on them and you have to be very determined with them, to not commit yourself if you're not sure

Js Dont do it ,they are called prison trips. Better to go over for as long as you can . flights and accomation can be good price out of school holis.
for most of us its a big thing take your time .And there is small print in a lot that if you dont buy you pay cost. They will know before you go what you are worth, and do there best to get it.Dont let that dream be a night mare

Hello JSAston,

I mirror what the two previous have said. Just stop for a minute and put on your sensible head!!

A company/developer/marketing organisation willing to spend massive on you before you get there simply mounts up the "costs" and you will probably end up signing. Dont get me wrong, buying in Cyprus can be a great thing. However you want the right property, the right area, and so on. You dont want the property put aside for you 2 weeks earlier by the backroom staff after they have creditchecked you and decided what mortgage etc you can afford.

If you can, visit for a short time yourself and purchase across a few holidays. A home purchase is far too important to simply make a decision in the heat of the moment. If you want help doing it then there are plenty of quality businesses who are registered agents (not marketing companies) who will help you through each stage by taking your instructions. Dont feel threatened by not knowing solicitors, banks, mortgage companies etc. A good agent can arrange these for you (although an independant solicitor on the High commission list is the top bet).

The one above newhomecyprus does offer sound advice so they can e contacted.

Thanks for the info Guy's

They have already called us 3 times already, and we only went on Saturday.
We have been told that they only have 2 remaining places on viewing trips for this year, so we will have to get in quick. I think we will leave it well alone now.

Cheers for the help though

Sort yourself out some properties from independent web sites, make sure they are still for sale, go over under your own steam, and have your own relaxed viewing trip. Afterwards you can take your time under no pressure

Smile Viewing trips

Hi All ~ just picked this thread up and felt it worth sharing our experience.
We first visited an exibition about four years ago and were able to discuss prices, but chose not to go on a subsidised trip to Cyprus, as we were keen to explore the island of Crete. We eventually decided to increase our normal two week holiday there to three weeks giving us the opportunity to meet with a rep on our terms, stating that we wanted to explore the market, with no immediate intention to commit ourselves. He was very good and whilst there was no pressure from him we ourselves became very enthusiasistic, especially about one property in a particularly ideallic location on the West side of the island. Before we parted with any money as a deposit he gave us 7 days to think about it, which in turn allowed us to make our own enquiires as well as revisiting all the places he had shown us. I've already mentioned on this forum that it was possible future healthcare issues that put us off and which to some extent governed our decision not to purchase. To his credit the rep was very understandable. Well here comes the other side of the coin; having turned our attentions to sunny Cyprus and numerous recomendations, we thought well why not, and booked an inspection trip through MRI ~ Whilst not exactly being placed under pressure, we saw an awful lot of houses and there were a lot of subtle questions. What they struggled to do was show us properties that really had the 'Wow Factor' for us. We hadn't intended to buy off plan, but they did manage to find the style we were looking for. That being a stone built property; and did they find a good example of those being built by a small established developer ironically who they had never dealt with before; didn't they just! The best bit was the villa was 20k cheaper than the rest, probably because the price came out of the developer's mouth, not theirs! The decision was ours and whilst the developer gave us 5 days to come to that decision, we had in fact created our own pressure in that only being there for a further day we had to say yes or no. Bought off plan that property is currently being built. On the plus side MRI introduced us to a decent lawyer (who has Power of Attorney) and is continuing to get us the best mortgage deal as well as sort bank accounts and utility services out for us. MRI ~ well they are good at selling, but unfortunately not so hot on the aftersales service and answering questions. I have to admit it has been a somewhat stressful experience, mainly because of the slowness of response, but we appear to be geting there. Next problems of course, furnishing and letting, because in all honesty we can't afford to move over yet until the housing market here inproves! Sorry for rambling on, but a bit of bedtime reading for you. Kalinikta

If you need furnishings for your new home try Steptoes, they have shops in Paphos and Limassol (not sure about Larnaca). They do packages for 1, 2 and 3 bedroomed houses. We bought our furniture from them, great service and delivered on time...

Smile Viewing Trips

Hi Viki,
Thanks for the info ~ have visited 'Stepoe Furnishing' web site and yes they appear very reasonable. Even better we know where the stores are located.
Regards, Chris
