Smile i will be moving to cyprus

Hello my name is Kelly and I am from Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
in July/August i will be moving to Cyprus. my Husband is from Cyprus and we have a 7 year old who hopefully will be starting at the Grammar School in Limassol in September.
It would be nice to make some English friends in Limassol. Also how easy can you get Sky and does your TV work from England to Cyprus or do we need to buy a new one.
Hope to here from you soon.

Hi Kelly,
I read your msg with intrest as I am just organising a visit to Cyprus April/May and going to see some schools (my boy is 9 and half).

Did you see the school and what made you choose it over others? I've read their Internet site and was rather impressed by the schools their graduates go to after finishing and choice of subjects taken.

We are currently in Trinidad and looking for a decent place to live and settle longterm - I insist on being close to European culture (and our families) though my husband likes hot, tropical climes and we have to compromise. My son is always rather upset by any transfers so I would like to find a base that would provide good quality education right through the secondary level.

Would appreciate any comment on what you have learned about primary/elementary schools and The Junior Grammar School in particular.
I must say that I am looking forward to visiting the place and just hope it is as good as I imagine.
Hope to hear from you or anybody who has experience in the area.

Best regards.
Krystyna
PS I've heard that telecommunication in Cyprus is good - that Internet and TV providers many, including the English language chanels, though must say that it is second hand opinion. Hope to hear more on the subject from the Expats in situ.

Default Sky TV

Hi Kelly
Your tv should be okay in Cyprus if it is a modern one, ours works fine As for sky, we brought our digibox, viewing card and cables over with us so all we had to buy here was a 3m satelite dish (no subscription charges). We used a company called Astro they give a great service and don't charge over the odds. If you don't bring the equipment from England they can also supply everything you need.
You may get a few people telling you this is illegal as Sky are only licensed for the UK but most people ignore that.
