Is there anyone who has had delivery plus clearance from Limersoll please let me no how much you paid I have allready paid 1550 pounds plus over 3000 because my furniture is over 2 weeks late and I had to buy a fridge medical things and lost my work because of it as my contacts and vearious things where on the container.

Is the container company/delivery company local? If it is, the chances are that the staff are not available as the anual August shut down begins on Thursday (Assumption Day is this Saturday) - many services and most companies simply close down for a week or three (or four) which can be very frustrating for people like yourself who need things to be done. We experienced similar problems - in the end my wife screamed at them for a few hours and kept bugging them until they honoured their agreement to deliver - we simply refused to pay any extra when they came and threatened them will legal action - sometimes they're just chancing their arm for extra cash - I'd refuse to pay the extra (once your stuff has been devlivered), or mention a few EU service agreement directives...Have you got any Cypriot allies that could shout and swear at them at the appropriate volume? This is all part of the culture shock I often warn about - don't worry it will fade and when it does all arrive you'll look back and laugh that you were even wound up about it...

Cherie,

I feel your pain. My stuff arrived this time a year ago. All of July I was calling both the agent as well as the NY shipping company and none had any idea where my stuff was or when it would arrive. I remember I called one morning and they had no clue and told me that the harbor would be closing for the August holidays and so I would have to wait till after it reopened. So I took the kids and off to Protaras. No sooner did I arrive that the same woman calls me and says my stuff is in Limassol. At least it arrived on time.
About the cost, what should have cost me$3,000 cost me $7,000. I expected a little extra here and there but not more than double. The only thing I am happy about is when I was back in NY recently I was asking someone I know and his brother was in the business if he could ship our wine. He said he is brother is no longer in business but recommended this guy as he knows him personally. I told him what a crook he is and the whole story. He said a 40 costs $3000 and a 20 costs $2,000. So actually $2,000 should have been the price.

I guess also we should put down in the sticky never to put work stuff in the container.

Oh also I had asked about insurance and he said I was covered but when I mentioned that some things got damaged he said I didn't have insurance and it wasn't his problem. Thankfully the store where we had bought the furniture send us everything we had mentioned to them that was damaged.

Overall though, despite of doing this all by myself while having two toddlers with me, in the heat of summer, I am glad I have all my things and it makes me feel more at home. Funny part, it took me six months to find my cutlery~!

Hi

Just a short update, still havn't had furniture suppose to get it at 5pm to day fingers crossed. THe agent now wants 950 euro's a big jump from 250 euro's, so lets see what happens when the container arrives, I think and so do other people that I am getting ripped off so do the paphos police who told me what it should be, have been here 4 weeks now and I last saw my furniture on the 10th July.
