Default Yiolou

We've spotted a property in Yiolou (Goilou ?) which ticks most of our boxes but having viewed maps we are concerned the village may be a little isolated.
Before adding the house to our short list for viewing later this year can anyone let us know what the area is like and how far to amenities such as banks, shops, markets etc.
Many thanks
Jon

Hi,
Giolou is about 20 minutes drive from paphos to the south and polis to the north.
It does have some small shops such as a local supermarket and there is at least one bank that I know of. There are also some local tavernas and there is a takeaway on the main road through the village.

Regards Veronica

If you like quiet, quaint villages this would be the area to be in. It is a nice village, but it would be a little drive if you want to go to Kato Paphos or the big shops in town. Roads are a bit windy and hilly in that area so a 20 minute drive in Paphos would feel like a bit of a harder drive than a motorway in my opinion.

You will find a quieter life than in town. I would say 25/30 minutes back to Paphos and we find that journey OK. Polis is 20mins or less.

It will be a little bit cooler and much less humid than Paphos town which to my mind is a huge benefit.

There area around is very attractive and you should find contact with other ex-pats quite easy if you wish it.

Do check out whether the planned Paphos/Polis highway will go past your front door, though!

Pete

Thanks to for all your comments, they've been very informative. I have been trying to check on the proposed A7 route but all I seem to find is a vague outline map - but will keep looking.
Regards to all.
