Hi! Just discovered this website, and like many have questions about moving to Cyprus. We are relocating there this summer from Colorado. My husband will be working in Lanarca but we heard some from his company are living in Limassol. Our children are 9, 12 and 13. Would appreciate any info on schools and things to consider with such a move. Know of any particular websites that are helpful? Anyone have info on moving into the british school system from US? Thanks! Trish

I have been looking at the school system for my children 10&14 , if you are American then try the American acadamy, as they follow the American curriculam, or if your British then its either state school which is taught in the cypriot language, or private schooling which is taught in the English language, but is quite expensive (about £4-5k per year per child.

The American Academy follows the English curriculum and not the American. There are lots of private schools in Limassol following the British system. We will be moving in August with our two children aged 5 and 7 and they have places at the Heritage Private school. We visited the school in October and really liked it. It is located outside Limassol, on the road towards the Troodos, have fantastic brand new facilities and lots of fresh air for the kids (as opposed to a school in the centre of Limassol).
Commuting between Larnaca and Limassol is possible but personally I'd probably look for a place to live and a school in Larnaca if that's where the company is based. |

Have you thought about the state schools? Two of my children are going to the local state school, they are 13years and 15years old. The school provide extra help to support them through learning the language. As these schools are Cypriot they will learn the language a lot quicker and to a better standard. Being able to speak Greek opens many more doors for you (wish I had learnt it)..
