Thank you all for your input!!! It is most helpful to hear various points of view and facts from people "who have done it" as we are seriously considering moving to Cyprus. Having read and digested your comments, I think we can cope with the heat, we are living in France at the moment, so we do get quite a bit of sun and have learnt to be careful and enjoy it in small doses. The housing market comments confirm what we suspected so there again, no surprises. We have now booked our first stay for next week, this is our "recky"visit. Coffee anyone? And thank you again, I am sure I'll think of more questions to ask ...

Just ask any questions you want, we will do our best to answer them.
Which part of Cyprus are you coming to?
We are in the Paphos area, by far the nicest part ino ur opinion, but of course its horses for courses so I am sure others would disagree.

We live close the the beach at Ayia Triada (near Kaparris/Paralimni) and we get a lovely breeze through most of the day and evening so its not yet reached the particularly hot and sticky point for us yet. I'm determined not to use the air con at all and so far we haven't even wanted to.

think the simple life and thats about right. There's no rat race to speak of, people are more interested in having a good meal and chatting with friends than owning the latest electrical entertainment products.

for the first time in our lives, we are getting 8 hours sleep a night, our food is pretty much all from the local area, (very environmentaly friendly), we don't need to have the heating on for 3 quarters of the year. you don't need to put an umbrella and sunglasses in your handbag just in case, and just going for a walk or sitting by the sea is pleasure enough

Thanks for your comments, sounds all good! We make our first trip next week so we'll be able to see for ourselves how it all is. We do look forward to our visit!
