Default Please help me!

Hi

I am new to all this so please bear with me!!!!!

We are hoping to move out to cyprus in 1 years time ish and have a son who is 8 in May and I am having a right nightmare with schools and would like any advice/experiences from anyone with children the same age.

My parents moved over in February 2009 to the polis area and we are hoping to go to one of the villages Kathikas or Arodes way and the only school that I read about is the International School of Cyprus but there must be other schools around?

Any information will be greatly received and any information on local schools!!!

Anything really.

Many thanks.

Flower this thread has lots of info on schools

Schooling in Cyprus

If you want to send your child to a local school there is a school in Kathikas which I beleive already has some British children in it.

regards Veronica

I know you say that you want to live in Kathikas or Arodes or one of the surrounding villages but have you ever visited this area in the winter?
These villages can be bitterly cold in the winter and unless you have a very well insulated house you find the winters will seem very long.
Villages further inland which are sheltered from the cold winds that come in off the sea have much milder winters.

It might be something that you should consider when looking at properties. If you go with one of the big developers (or even some of the agents) do not let them persuade you that you dont need central heating or double glazing or that a bog standard concrete house will be warm in the winter because it wont. Unless you have a very well insulated house it will cost a fortune to heat in the winter and the chances are you will still not be particularly warm.
Try to go for a stone built (not stone clad) or steel frame or timber frame which well insulated agaisnt the climate. These structures keep the heat out in the summer and the cold out in the winter much more efficiently than concrete.

Regards Veronica
