Hi All

Does anyone have any information how i would go about looking for employment within the British bases, i am of British nationality and had been living in Cyprus for 15yrs.

I am a teacher and i recently saw a thread were one of the schools was looking for a teacher does anyone have any info i would be so grateful.

It depends on your qualifications. The base schools insist on a very good first degree, TQS, PGCE and normally years of experience of teaching at a base school. They also prefer people with armed forces background or connections. I think they obtain most of their teachers from the UK and German base schools, but I could be wrong...

I'm not qualified as a teacher, but I was looking for employment within the Sovereign Base and wrote directly to them. I thought due to my past and current employment, including a high level of CRB & security checks I might have a chance. I did receive a very nice letter back from their HR, but was informed that they only employed ex-military personel or civil servants. failing that a barrister or high court judge. Sadly I'm none of those. It was also pointed out that they had to ensure they employed an agreed quota level from the local cypriot population. Whilst I failed you may succeed, so good luck. There is an MOD website that advertises teaching jobs at bases around the world. I can't remember what the URL is but try having a look around the internet.... might be something like www.mod.gov.uk. My daughter was referred to it when she was looking for jobs... like Chris she was unsuccessful!

You could also try obtaining the Cyprus Lion newspaper that is sold on the bases, they have adverts and say who is eligible to apply.

If you want to get job as a teacher in school then just upload your resume in job finder sites.There are many sites available on the internet.You just upload resume in some sites and then wait for call.
