Post Moving to Cyprus

Hello - we are Jonathan (JK) and Maggie, we are about to move (permanently) to Northern Cyprus. We plan to be over quite soon actually, around the 8th November. A family member saw this site and thought it might help us. So - if anyone has any useful ideas, tips or information or simply wants to say hello, we would be pleased to hear from you. Such a shame we didn't know of this site before - oh well better late than never.
Regards JK & Maggie

Why did you decide on Northern Cyprus just out of interest ... although not an immediate problem, you have considered the land issues I guess? The Turkish occupation in many eyes is illegal as they invaded the area and should Turkey ever be forced to hand it back I'm wondering if historic claims to land there would take place?

I have no experience about the accupated area i Northern Cyprus.
But I have a lot of good thing to say about Cyprus wich I moweed to from Norway in 2005.

There are many reasons why Cyprus is a logical choice if you are relocating or buying a holiday home. The keyword is:

- wonderful sun-filled climate

- friendly hospitable people

- Cyprus has the the third best taxlevel in the world after the United Araboc Emirates and Hong Kong

- over 90% of locals speak English making your transition to the Cypriot way of life immeasurably easier

- Human rights and private property are safeguarded by the constitution,

- Cyprus is a member of the UN, the commonwealth, The Council of Europe and now the EU.

- superb climate, averaging 340 days of sunshine a year,

- wonderful beaches and

. delicious cuisine and kitchen with cheap fruit and vegetables

- clean environment

- The lowest crime rate in EU (averaging 1/6 of the rest of EU)
