Question Moving to Cyprus

We are hoping to move to Paphos as soon as our house in Washington, Tyne & Wear, England is sold unfortunately every thing seems to have gone into reverse over here but we are coming to stay at our Daughters holiday house in Paphos and we wondered if anyone would have time to spend an evening with us just to give us some general tips for moving over.ie Medical care for the 65s also pensions, cars, different areas to live in as we have seen 5 properties that we would like to view but would like to know more about the surrounding areas, if anyone can help us we would be very grateful.
Many thanks
Jean & michael Hope

I'm not sure this is much help but, have you looked at IKA web sight? Converting national insurance stamps to IKA stamps might give you extra medical cover. If this is not possible, You can get a medical book if you work a taxed job every day. For example one hour a day in a bar (5 days) for a year will be worth little money, but you can get a health book. The book makes a huge differance to treatment you can recive for free and also speeds up administration so you are seen quicker.
I live in Greece, and am trying to convince my parents to move here, they worry about medicare for the over 65s so if you find somthing that works, please tell me!

We are in a similar position. Our house is on the market but we are going to rent for a year. It can be very hard to sell property and if things don't work out then it makes it difficult to move back. Renting also gives the option to move fairly easily.

Have a look on the Cyprus government websites. They give general guidance for people moving out to retire.

Dave.
