retiree in Cyprus

Hi,

I'm actually posting this on behalf of someone else who is a retiree and has expressed an interest in moving to Cyprus. She's interested in staying active by looking for volunteer opportunities either in the North or the Republic say for example at higher education institutes or museums or such. She's been an English teacher for many, many years having taught in both China and Jordan; she has an Masters in the subject; is a former IELTS examiner and instructor; and a contributor to travel magazines in China. She is interested in things like teaching, proofreading/editing, and travel writing. I'm wondering if anyone knows, or has heard of, possible opportunities to get involved in volunteer activities. Also, I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any hotels there (in the bigger cities like Larnaca, Paphos, Famagusat, etc) offer weekly or monthly rates along with daily rates. Thanks so much.
