Default PM helps to get newborn Luck to Oz

From NZ Herald, I thought this sums up NZ

An 11th-hour intervention by the Prime Minister has given the newest member of the Warriors family an unlikely ticket to the NRL Grand Final.

John Key has apparently helped to bypass the usual procedures to assist in the hasty procurement of a passport for Micheal Luck's new son.

He was born just over a week ago and his parents had not yet received a birth certificate, let alone started applying for a passport.

After the win on Saturday night, Warriors director John Hart made urgent calls back to NZ while a pensive Luck stood by in the dressing room.

Hart was seeking contacts within Internal Affairs to pave the way for a fast tracking of the documentation for Luck jnr.

Meanwhile, long-time Warriors fan and ambassador the Mad Butcher Sir Peter Leitch got in touch with the Prime Minister to see how he could help.

"I've called John and he told me, 'I'll sort it out'," Sir Peter said yesterday.

He said Mr Key seemed happy to help and had passed on his congratulations to the Warriors.

^ nice story, thanks.

The Warriors semifinal was shown live here, presume that means we get the final too, have to check on the timing for this match; has been ideal for the Rugby World Cup games, we're 5hrs difference (now 6 due to NZ daylight saving) and so far matches have been spread from 9.30am to 3.30pm starts our time.

My brother and his son arrived in NZ from UK on Thursday, and have already seen NZ-France and Fiji-Samoa in Auckland, today south to New Plymouth then on to Wellington for the weekend.

and the NZ spirit:

What a lovely video! I loved watching it - and it does sum up New Zealand. There are still new places to find. My son is going to be looking for a few such places later on this year - but I'm not allowed to say what or where until it happens!
